Playstation Portable, or ‘PSP’ is Playstation’s answer to the popular Gameboy produced by Nintendo. The Playstation Portable was first launched by Sony in Japan in 2004 and after being successful there, was soon introduced to the rest of the worlds consumers. The Playstation Portable is a handheld device with controls either side of its flat screen and on the sides. It has been compared many times to its main competitor, the Nintendo DS which has two screens. Critics of the Playstation Portable have said that it is a lesser machine due to the fact that it does not have a touch screen option (which the Nintendo DS does have). However many gamers have praised the Playstation Portable for this as they believe that this means that they get a more intense portable gaming experience by just having the one screen to concentrate on.
The Playstation Portable is also a storage device and is able to not only play games but store pictures, video and mp3 files. This means you can take your important and most loved files on the go with you. The Playstation Portable’s storage feature makes it very popular with consumers who want to take pictures, video and music to share with friends. The Playstation Portable is compact and looks good too. It has been described by some consumers as a mini computer, you can do everything on it that you can on a computer (minus surfing the internet but I’m sure Sony will come up with a PSP that does that soon!).
